Prompt Writing - September 2026 Meeting

It's that time of year again; the season turns from summer to autumn, the leaves change colour, thunderstorms give way to cold showers, schools open their doors, and people from the prairies to the foothills curl up indoors with friends & loved ones.

It's also the time of year where writers dust off their notebooks & keyboards and get back to work on the projects they've spent all summer procrastinating. After spending all summer outdoors camping, ferrying kids around from sport to event, and going out to community events, getting back into the flow of writing can be a challenge.

Lucky for you the FWG is here to help!

Writing prompts are great not only to get yourself back in the writing groove, but also for practicing your creative writing skills, overcoming writer's block, and discovering new ideas for your stories!

Prompts are a versatile tool, but they aren't limited to only fun writing activities. Prompts can be found just about everywhere if you know what you're looking for; So not only will we give you some of our own writing prompts, but we'll also teach you how to find & create prompts for yourself!

Our upcoming monthly meeting is scheduled for Sept. 17th @ the Okotoks Public Library in the Main Floor Program Room from 6:00PM - 8:00PM. Pens, paper, and light snacks will be provided!
